The
homosexual political movement has marched from a “don’t jail or
blackmail us” to “cure our self-inflicted deadly illness” to “venerate
our sexual identities.”
By Robert Weissberg: The treatment received by judge Stuart Kyle Duncan at Stanford Law School has received enormous attention but this attention is entirely about the state of free expression at an elite law school. Almost nothing, however, about why his speech was disrupted. Let me suggest that the reasons behind student vehemence are just as significant as disruption itself.
Judge Duncan’s talk was disrupted over his stand on gay rights. For the rabid protesters, he is guilty of homophobia, and in the first degree. The Human Right Campaign, America’s über-gay advocacy organization, makes the indictment plain:
Duncan’s record of anti-LGBTQ advocacy is alarming. He represented the Gloucester County School Board in their case against Gavin Grimm, the transgender high school student whose restroom access was restricted based on his transgender status.
He advocated on behalf of Louisiana in the state’s bid to uphold its same-sex marriage ban and wrote an amicus brief for Louisiana and 14 other states arguing their same-sex marriage bans did not undermine the decision in U.S. v. Windsor, the landmark Supreme Court case that required the federal government to recognize the marriages of same-sex couples. He also argued that a couple married in New York could not have their names added to the birth certificate of a child they adopted in Louisiana because the state did not recognize same-sex marriages at the time and its adoption statute does not allow unmarried couples to adopt.
He has furthered asserted that no special rights exist for access to public restrooms and other intimate facilities, nor is there any medical evidence to justify treatment for gender dysphoria. The judge also supported the right of Hobby Lobby to receive a religious exemption from the contraception mandate under the Affordable Care Act.
More, however, is involved than the immediate legal decisions. Judge Duncan is the latest lightening rod in a decades long culture war over homosexuality and, by implication, reproductive sex. What began as the libertine “sexual revolution” in the 1960s has now evolved into a battle over one type of sex—sex to make babies. Sex, as per that revolution, continues to be celebrated, but not for the purpose of having children.
The old legal definition of sex divorced from procreation was sodomy. In today’s common usage “sodomy” refers to anal intercourse but it once applied to any sexual behavior outside of penis/vagina sex. There was thus oral sodomy, bestiality, and other sex acts that were typically not explicitly described. In principle, married heterosexual couples could be guilty of sodomy.
Judge Duncan is not engaged in a Quixotic campaign to return gays to the closet. In fact, gays have enjoyed unlimited freedom for decades prior to today’s open celebration of gay Pride. Remember the grim details of the AIDS epidemic brought on by bathhouses facilitating hundreds of anonymous contacts per year. What is new is not gay sex per se but mainstreaming non-procreative sex as normal.
The anti-procreation campaign is succeeding. A recent compilation of surveys (12,000 total respondents) conducted between 2012 and 2021 showed dramatic increases for those identifying as LGBT. Among millennials (born 1980 and 1999) a notable rise occurred in those considering themselves as LGBT, from 5.8% to 10.5. Significantly, these self-identification numbers were basically flat for precious generations, baby boomers, generation X (1965-1979) and so on. But for what is called Generation Z (1997-2002) the figure in 2021 was 20.8%. That is, slightly over 1 in 5 saw themselves as living outside of the traditional definition of “normal.” Yes, maturation might bring a return to past patterns, but given that procreative sex is the hard-wired default option of human nature, something powerful is pushing youngsters away from normal.
Schools at nearly all grade levels are now preaching the joys of non-reproductive sex. The organization GLSEN is pushing the gay agenda in public schools, including the earliest grades, and they have already succeeded in six states and are lobbying with multiple allies in several others. GLSEN’s gay message is clear: “GLSEN works to ensure that LGBTQ students are able to learn and grow in a school environment free from bullying and harassment. Together we can transform our nation’s schools into the safe and affirming environment all youth deserve.” In practice, teaching about gays and the transgendered is thus comparable to celebrating how blacks, Jews, Italians, the Irish, Armenians and the like all contribute to America’s greatness. In a sense, drag shows for toddlers is the first step in sexualizing children to put them on the pathway to “an alternative lifestyle.”
More importantly, sex education in today’s schools has advanced far beyond the traditional bone dry, unerotic birds and the bees. Under the label of “comprehensive sex education,” lessons now include graphic depictions of oral and anal sex along with masturbation. Massachusetts seventh graders learn how to mold Saran Wrap to form a dental dam for safe cunnilingus. High schoolers in Eugene, Oregon recently were instructed about massage oil, flavored syrup, a candle, music, feathers or a boa on the pathway to sexual satisfaction.
The lessons on non-reproductive sex continue in college and, if anything, they become more explicit. No longer might gay students worry about living celibate lives in hostile campus environments. Now, thanks to the website Campus Pride Index those in the LGBT+ community can see how over 400 campuses are rated by their friendliness toward gays to ensure years of sexual exploration. The site also offers pride events and campus fairs where like-minded youngster can meet and exchange information. Their job bulletin board includes a gay-friendly research institute and access to a pride media center.
Then add the burgeoning popularity of officially sponsored campus “sex weeks” where students are exposed to kinky sex. Yes, there may be talk of safe sex together with free condoms, but if the campus is to make “sex week” exciting for an entire week, there must to more than dull heterosexual intercourse. Lessons might cover Queer sex, hands-on demonstrations of sex toys, the personal journeys of non-binary people, and the joys of masturbation and, for the truly adventuresome, lessons in bondage, dominance, submission, sadism, masochism, and fetishes. Harvard College, as befitting its lofty status, offers entire seminars on talking dirty and anal sex along with handing out free sex toys to undergraduate participants.
For decades gay characters have gradually infiltrated TV, but the latest forum for these messages is sports, no small matter since millions of “average Joes” love sports. The website outsports regales viewers with the latest news on who’s “out” together with upbeat tales they tell of their experiences. Recent accounts describe openly gays athletes in swimming, hockey, gymnastics, running, soccer, ice skating, volleyball, rowing, rugby, tennis, and college basketball. Stories repeatedly explain how gay athletes benefited from being honest about their homosexuality to encourage others. Readers can learn about the 16 gay and bi-sexuals who have played in the National Football League.
Less overt is a hit-and-run approach to mainstreaming homosexuality into the sports world. In the Fall of 2022 NFL fans watching the Thursday night game on TV saw a commercial for a product called “Boy Butter, a lubricant explicitly marketed to gays to ease anal intercourse. Given that these TV spots are hugely expensive, and the Boy Butter market minuscule, this commercial was just gay propaganda. And, for good measure, the ad itself was explicitly homosexual, portraying two young Adonis-like young men romancing each other on a beach. The exact same TV commercial recently appeared on the conservative Fox Cable News. Even the ultimate taboo gay sexual practice, anal intercourse, is now “G” rated.
Macho professional hockey likewise joined the push to mainstream gay sexuality. The National Hockey League (NHL) recently mandated a “Pride Night” in which all players had to wear the rainbow “Pride” colors of the gay movement. No player was to be excused though a handful refused on religious grounds, and quickly became famous for their resistance.
Meanwhile, Dylan Mulvaney, a notable trans activist who works as an “influencer” on TikTok has become the spokesperson for Bud Light Beer. (Dylan gained fame thought to a TV interview with President Biden). Now his face has appeared on cans of Bud Light as part of the firm’s “365 Days of Girlhood” campaign. This trans personality is also part of the beer company’s “March Madness” basketball campaign, one of America’s most watched TV extravaganzas. Dylan can also be seen in a bathtub enjoying his Bud.
Conclusions
The homosexual political movement has marched from a “don’t jail or blackmail us” to “cure our self-inflicted deadly illness” to “venerate our sexual identities.” This is an incredible success, by any standard. Unfortunately, however, there are societal costs to this successful proselytizing. With procreational sex just a prosaic option, millions will drop out of the “make babies workforce.” If a baby is accidently produced, there’s always readily available abortion.
As the culture evolves, being a “breeder” may well become a sign of lower-middle class values. Among gays themselves, the practice of faking respectability by having a family and children while secretly engaging in homosexuality may likewise fade. After all, there is no social cost for being a flaming Queen. Taken together, these trends can only be bad news for America as the birth rate falls and low-IQ workers must be imported.
Less obvious, however, will be a shift in the culture and politics. The nuclear family—Ozzie, Harriet, David, and Ricky—will become just one more of many valid “lifestyles.” Like other “lifestyles,” identifiers will congregate in enclaves that cater to their special needs—children’s clothing stores, daycare centers and schools. Such places already exist, for example, New York City’s Park Slope, Brooklyn while other neighborhoods overflow with noisy singles bars and restaurants catering to those unencumbered by family responsibilities.
Meanwhile, those committed to marriage-based procreative sex will have multiple offspring and given that these “breeders” are disproportionally religious, the religious will grow in number at the expense of the childless. It is already happening. In New York State, for example, ultra-Orthodox Jews have now become a major political force that helped flip several congressional districts “red” in the 2022 election. The current Israeli political situation perfectly illustrates how the Orthodox have procreated their way to power.
It is said in Roman 11:33, “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!” Perhaps, just perhaps, God has forsworn fire and brimstone to smite the wicked and sent his Angels to entice the sinners to embrace sodomy, and with that embrace comes extinction. Not the vengeful God of the Old Testament, to be sure, but perhaps more subtle yet effective. Whatever the transgender, the non-binary, the sexually fluid and all the other sexually adventuresome who embrace non-reproductive sex will accomplish in their proselytizing, they will not inherit the earth.
