By Hal Turner: FLASH: The Peace Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia began minutes ago in Istanbul, Turkey.  They ended minutes later!

Russia told Ukraine they must withdraw from the four territories (Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporozhe) in order to have a ceasefire.

Ukraine flatly refused.

The Russian delegation then stood up, said "Next time it will be five regions" and walked out of the room.  (CORRECTION: I have just been informed the Russians did not say "five" they said "Eight.")

It is not known if they will come back; the negotiations might very well be finished.

By John Leake: Since 1898, the guys who developed and executed U.S. foreign policy have modeled it after British foreign policy during the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries—that is, a policy of meddling in the affairs of the rest of the world in an effort to expand British domination.

On the whole, the British were considerably better at global meddling to their advantage than the Americans have been. This was because the guys who staffed the East India Company and later the Foreign Office tended to be educated and deeply interested in the peoples (and their languages) they were tasked with dominating. Richard Francis Burton and T.E. Lawrence were notable examples of British army officers who were capable of forming real relationships with foreigners.

Since World War II, U.S. foreign policy has increasingly neglected diplomacy and instead relied on U.S. aircraft carrier power projection—that is, “Do what we tell you to do or we’ll bomb you.”

Finally, something looks like it may be about to give.

The British establishment’s financial daily, the Financial Times, was first to break ranks last week to condemn “the West’s shameful silence” in the face of Israel’s murderous assault on the tiny enclave.

In an editorial – effectively the paper’s voice – the FT accused the United States and Europe of being increasingly “complicit” as Israel made Gaza “uninhabitable”, an allusion to genocide, and noted that the goal was to “drive Palestinians from their land”, an allusion to ethnic cleansing.

Of course, both of these grave crimes by Israel have been evidently true not only since Hamas’ violent, single-day breakout from Gaza on 7 October 2023, but for decades.
