The bodies of 38 Palestinians were brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours, while 204 people were injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
Among the dead were journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda, director of the Barq Gaza news agency, along with a number of his family members, bringing the number of Palestinian media workers killed in Gaza since October 7th, 2023 to about 220.
Also among the dead Sunday was 4-year-old Mohammad Mustafa Yassin, who succumbed to prolonged malnutrition. He was the 58th Palestinian to die of hunger since the siege began. An additional 242 people – mostly children and the elderly – have also died due to lack of access to food and medicine during this period.
Israel also killed two Red Cross workers: “They were directly targeted in their little leisure time. They worked 16 hours a day and didn’t hesitate to serve people, and everybody knew they worked for the Red Cross,” said Ali Abu Hashem, a friend of one of the victims.
The Israeli army controls over 77% of the Gaza Strip, local authorities said on Sunday.
