Arguably, not a single life has been or will be saved by this shameful and colossal misallocation of human resources.

The war on safe and abundant fossil fuels has cost countless lives in poor countries and made those countries poorer by blocking affordable energy.

Since the global warming crusade started some 30 years ago, the temperature of the planet has not been altered by one-tenth of a degree—as even the alarmists will admit.

In other words, $16 trillion has been spent—a lot of people got very, very rich off the government largesse—but there is not a penny of measurable payoff.

But it’s much worse than that.

The explicit goal of US foreign policy, according to Rubio, is to resurrect the western colonial order that persisted for some five centuries until the Second World War.

Old-school, white-man’s-burden colonialism is unapologetically back.

In Rubio’s preposterous retelling, Europe’s colonisation of much of the planet, and the rape and pillage of its resources, was a glorious era of western exploration, innovation and creativity. The West brought a “superior” civilisation to backward peoples while maintaining global order.

Reflecting on the era before 1945, he observed: “The West had been expanding – its missionaries, its pilgrims, its soldiers, its explorers pouring out from its shores to cross oceans, settle new continents, build vast empires extending out across the globe.”

Thirteen years later in 2022 Giuffre received an estimated $16 million from Prince Andrew in an out-of-court settlement in which he admitted to no wrong. For some reason, she was not required to keep to the terms of the previous settlement in which she released other “potential defendants.” Little doubt her attorneys smelled a large fee from a charge against Prince Andrew. Public accusations in a lawsuit would embarrass the Royal family and result in a large out-of-court settlement whether the charge was true or false. It is possible that the charge is false, but that $16 million was too much to walk away from. As lawyers understand, many “settlements” are “extortions.”
