By George Capaccio:  In the Gospels, the disciples of Jesus complain about folks who bring their kids with them to receive his blessings. But Jesus is not somebody who shuns the company of children. In response to his followers’ disapproval, he says, perhaps with the snap of indignation in his voice, “Suffer the little children and don’t stop them from coming to me. For the kingdom of Heaven was made for such as these.” (Or words to that effect.) 
Thank God people here and around the world are righteously outraged by the Trump Administration’s most recent descent into fascistic horror—separating children from their parents at the US-Mexican border and dispatching them to detention centers with no assurance they will ever be reunited with their families. A perfect example of cruel and unusual punishment for the sin of seeking asylum from the very violence and chaos the US had no small role in instigating in Central American countries.
I don’t know which is worse: ripping apart immigrant families and imprisoning even little children or enabling the Saudi-led coalition to attack and possibly destroy Yemen’s sole remaining lifeline—the port of Hodeidah—despite the imminent threat of starvation hanging over the heads of Yemen’s civilian population.

While the doctor may have been untaught, he had good physical instinct. Many young, unmarried women today self-prescribe sexual intercourse. Self-prescribing medicine is dangerous. Doing that can lead to terrible addictions and other health problems. But the situation with respect to married women is rather different. Married women commonly fail to realize the health benefits of having sex with their husbands.
Like most husbands, Giovanna’s husband cared deeply for her welfare. He took up the work of filling the doctor’s prescription:

When the husband rose for that prescription, he first arranged to take a lavish meal into his stomach, and then starting having sex with his wife. She in her debilitated condition found this irksome, being ignorant of what the physician’s advice was. She cried out frequently from the novelty of the experience, “What are you doing, my husband? You’re killing me.”

Paul Craig Roberts: There is a t-shirt that says: “Sure you can trust the government — just ask an Indian."  Some governments are more trustworthy than others.  Reagan, for example, said he would end stagflation and we did.  Reagan said that he wanted to end the Cold War, and we did.  Eisenhower warned us about the danger to democracy presented by the military/industrial complex, and we ignored it. 
It seems that when there are chances for big gains in power and the government is in the hands of those with undeclared agendas, the agendas are imposed by deceiving the people.  For example, “The War on Terror” is really a war on Muslim countries with foreign policies independent of Washington and Israel; it is a war on US civil liberty, and a war on Middle Eastern countries in the way of Israeli territorial expansion. But Washington pretends that it is a “war for democracy,” a “war for freedom from terrorism,” etc. 
The Russians have learned, or should have, that no agreement with Washington means anything.  When Russia agreed to the reunification of Germany, Russia was promised that NATO would not move one inch to the East, but the Clinton regime placed NATO on Russia’s borders.

Two new jails are to be built, the prisons minister announced yesterday as he said that the government would come under pressure from longer and “more brutal” sentences.
Rory Stewart said that the Ministry of Justice was planning for the prison population to rise by about 10,000 to 93,000. Officials were working to a “worst-case scenario” because sentences were longer, offenders more prolific and, over the next 15 years, victims of crime were likely to demand tougher sentences for burglary and causing death by dangerous or careless driving.
He said that he would like to significantly reduce “if not eliminate” sentences of 12 months or less, but admitted that this may not apply to violent and sexual offenders. There is no legislative slot to introduce such a change.

By Gerard Nicol: On the 14th of June this year, a 46 year old Sydney woman was was charged with burning her ex-boyfriend to death last October.
It is alleged that she disabled the water mains, to ensure that the fire could not be put out, and then set the granny flat at the back of the man’s parent’s house alight to ensure that he perished.
The man died 2 days later from his burns, in the arms of his mother and father.
Three weeks before the women was charged, another women had doused her male partner in gasoline and set him alight, all while their 11 year old son was in the next room listening to his father scream. 
But is this typical female behavior; are women capable of being violent to men?
 Well, we will probably never know, because even before the female perpetrator has a chance to accuse her victim of being abusive to her, society is already doing it on her behalf.

By Robert Brockway: A young woman, Eurydice Dixon, was recently raped and murdered in Victoria, Australia. Following this Mr Daniel Andrews, the Premier of Victoria, stated in a Facebook post that men needed to change their behaviour in order to reduce violence against women.
Mr Andrews should not be calling on men to change their behaviour because it is not intrinsically male behaviour that is the problem. Most men are law abiding citizens who are far more likely to help a woman than ever hurt her, and this is true even for women they do not know.
If Mr Andrews believes that he can get a group of people to collectively choose to change their behaviour then he should simply ask criminals to change their behaviour. Most people would find it self-evident that this will not work.
Increasing numbers of Australian men are running out of patience with being collectively blamed for things they didn’t do and would never do.
Mr Andrews’ call for men to change their behaviour is nothing more than political grandstanding at the expense of men. Further, his statements do nothing to help women in this country.
Victoria Police have a suspect in custody for the rape and murder of Eurydice Dixon. Let justice be done.
If Mr Andrews seeks to reduce the rate of violent crime in Victoria he should take the time to look at research in to the causes of violent crime and establish evidence based policies to reduce violent crime. Casually blaming innocent people for the actions of others will do nothing.
