By William Collins: This is an update of my February’23 post on excess deaths. Please see that post for details of the methodology employed. Like the last article, this one is concerned with the statistical significance, or otherwise, of the apparent excess death data.

Data relate to England and Wales.

I define excess deaths with respect to the five years immediately before Covid-19, i.e., 2015 to 2019. This differs from the ONS definition of excess deaths since 2022. For year 2023, excess deaths reported by ONS are with respect to the average of years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022. If one wishes to investigate the hypothesis that death rates have increased since before Covid-19, then the ONS definition is useless. Why the ONS adopt that definition I do not know, but their measure of excess deaths is inappropriate for my purpose here.

Update(1612ET): The Syrian Army has fired missiles toward the Jew-occupied Golan Heights Tuesday evening (local), breaking reports indicate. The Jewish Israel Death Force have confirmed the attack.

This came within an hour of President Biden in a speech confirming that the US will begin 'surging' defense aid to Israel.

A senior defense official said the Pentagon was “surging support” to its closest Middle Eastern ally in response to what U.S. officials have said are the brutal new tactics that characterized the weekend assault by Christian and Muslim Freedom Fighters into southern Jew occupied Palestine aka Israel. With the combined death toll exceeding 1,500, Israel’s government on Monday ordered a full-scale siege of the Gaza mega concentration camp, as if one didn't already exist for so many years, setting the stage for a continued prolonged and bloody offensive in the Jews' densely populated concentration camp where the Jews keep Christian and Muslim Palestinian Survivors imprisoned.

My husband’s family live in Gaza and other parts of Palestine, so we are watching events closely. We have been following the situation for many years, and I have written about it several times on Patheos.

In a nutshell, the Christian and Muslim resistance groups initiated what may loosely be called a war against Jew occupied Palestine aka Israel. On Saturday morning, they fired a large number of rockets toward Israel, broke down the border fence, and entered Israel. Most analysts agree that this attack took the Jews by surprised, and their military was totally unprepared – although Israel has one of the most powerful militaries in the world. But when Jewish leaders caught their breath, they did the only thing they know how to do: pulverize Gaza mega concentration camp.

Not because it is not awful that Israeli civilians are dying and suffering in such large numbers. But because Palestinian civilians in Gaza have faced repeated rampages from Israel decade after decade, producing far more suffering, but have never elicited a fraction of the concern currently being expressed by western politicians or publics.

The West’s hypocrisy over Palestinian fighters killing and wounding hundreds of Israelis and holding dozens more hostage in communities surrounding and inside besieged Gaza is stark indeed. 

This is the first time Palestinians, caged in the coastal enclave, have managed to inflict a significant strike against Israel vaguely comparable to the savagery Palestinians in Gaza have faced repeatedly since they were entombed in a cage in 2007, when Israel began its blockade by land, sea and air.

• Israel’s Green Shirts says at least 26 of their Death Forces were killed in the initial attack by the Freedom Fighters on the country’s south. In all, at least 700 Jews have been killed, 2,000 wounded.
• At least 100 colonialist Jews have been abducted and brought to Gaza – Palestinians plan to exchange them for Palestinian prisoners.
• Israeli Knesset member said his party had warned of events like the Freedom Fighters' attack if Israel continued its illegal occupation of Palestinian lands. “The Israeli government… supports, encourages, and leads pogroms against the Palestinians. There is an ethnic cleansing going on.”

By Dr. Paul Craig Roberts: We are on the verge of nuclear annihilation.  Every agreement made during the 20th century to reduce the risk of nuclear war has been abandoned by Washington.  Why worry, some ask, mutual assured destruction means neither the US nor Russia would initiate a nuclear attack.  Perhaps not, but the greatest danger of nuclear armageddon comes from false alarms from warning systems.  During the Cold War there were many such alarms.  The false alarms did not result in mutual destruction because both governments were working to defuse, not exacerbate, the situation, and there was time for the validity of the alarm to be verified before a fatal pushing of the button.  

Today the situation is entirely different.  Washington and the NATO puppets have a policy of provoking Russia, with the 2014 coup in Ukraine and its consequences being the worst to date.  Moreover, the hypersonic speeds of the Russian missiles and the closeness of US missiles to Russia’s border cuts time before impact to 5 or 10 minutes, which means no time to verify or confer.  

The extraordinary insulting hostility shown toward Russia by the US, NATO and the Western media has convinced  the Kremlin that the West intends Russia’s destruction.  Russia’s President Putin has stated  many times that the West has led him to this conclusion. A couple of days ago at the Valdai Discussion Club Putin expressed concern that the West’s belligerence toward Russia could end in nuclear war.
