‘Criminal act’: Ban Ki-moon Outraged Over Israel's Deadly Strike On Gaza UN school + Israel's Mossad Wiretapped Kerry’s Calls During Peace Talks

RT: The UN chief has called a new Israeli airstrike on a Gaza UN school that killed 10 and maimed 35 a "moral outrage and a criminal act." Ban Ki-moon called for investigation as official death toll keeps rising.
"This attack, along with other breaches of international law, must be swiftly investigated and those responsible held accountable. It is a moral outrage and a criminal act," UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s spokesman said in a statement.
The missile fired by an Israeli aircraft hit the entrance to the school in the town of Rafah in southern Gaza Strip, according to Israeli health officials.
The school served as a shelter for some 3,000 Palestinians amid the ongoing violence in the region, as Israel continues its operation against Hamas.

New Israeli Airstrike Hits Gaza UN School, Kills At Least 10 - Medics
RT: An Israeli air strike has hit another UN-operated school in Gaza Strip, killing at least 10 people and injuring 35 others, Palestinian health authorities reported.
The missile fired by an Israeli aircraft hit the entrance to the school in the town of Rafah in southern Gaza Strip.
The school served as a shelter for some 3,000 Palestinians amid the ongoing violence in the region, as Israel continues its operation against Hamas.
The Israeli military declined immediate comment on the attack.
The area of Rafah along Gaza’s border with Egypt has been the scene of intensive bombardment over the weekend as Israeli troops retaliated for the suspected kidnapping Friday of a 23-year-old soldier, Hadar Goldin, by Hamas fighters.
The IDF (Israel Death Forces) later said Goldin had been killed in the area, along with two other Israeli soldiers.

Palestinian health officials reported at least 30 fatalities on Sunday. The death toll for Palestinians in the hostilities has topped 1,700, according to the latest tally.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said casualties have reached 1,830 killed and 9,370 wounded so far in Gaza since Israel launched its offensive almost a month ago. The dead include 398 children, 207 women and 74 elderly people, said Dr Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman for the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza.
IDF has lost 64 soldiers in combat. Three civilians were killed by Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel.
Last week Israel shelled the Jabaliya UN shelter, killing 20 people and sparking widespread international condemnation.
Amid the growing worldwide protests against the Israeli military campaign in Gaza, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that his government will act “according to our security needs and only according to our security needs” in a speech Saturday.
There were media reports on Sunday that the IDF may be withdrawing tanks from Gaza in a possible indication of a scaling down of hostilities. But the Israeli military later said the tanks were moved for redeployment.

Israel's Mossad Wiretapped Kerry’s Calls During Peace Talks
RT: Israeli agents were eavesdropping on US Secretary of State John Kerry as he was mediating last year’s futile Middle East peace talks, German magazine Der Spiegel has revealed.

Kerry made reviving diplomatic ties between Israel and the Palestinian Authority after a three-year freeze a central priority in the early months of his term as secretary of state. In June 2013, direct talks started, only to collapse completely months later, as the differences overwhelmed whatever desire for an agreement the parties had brought to the negotiations table.
But when the delegations were just starting their doomed effort in the US, Kerry was busy mediating. Some of the diplomatic calls with his counterparts in the Middle East were made not on secure, scrambled channels but on regular phone lines. The calls were intercepted by the Israeli secret services, Der Spiegel said Sunday, citing intelligence sources.
In addition to the Israelis, who used the eavesdropped information to get leverage during the talks, at least one other secret service was monitoring Kerry’s calls, Der Spiegel added.
The German magazine said the revelations could hurt already tense US-Israeli relations amid the ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Last week, Kerry made another attempt to mediate the current crisis, but failed to secure a lasting ceasefire.
