(1/2) Christian leaders in Lebanon’s Tyre urge international intervention after the Jews' evacuation warning
Via Middle East Monitor: Christian religious leaders in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre have called for urgent international action to prevent an attack on the city’s Christian quarter after the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings covering the coastal area.
In a joint statement on Tuesday, senior church leaders appealed to the international community and Lebanese authorities to intervene amid growing fears that military operations could expand into parts of the city that have so far avoided direct attacks.
The appeal was signed by Archbishop George Iskandar of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church, Archbishop Elias Kfoury of the Greek Orthodox Church of Tyre and Sidon, and Maronite Archbishop Charbel Abdullah.
Their statement came after Israeli evacuation warnings prompted hundreds of residents to flee the Christian quarter, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.
Civil defence teams were deployed to assist elderly residents and facilitate evacuations to what authorities described as safer areas.
The warning followed a series of attacks on nearby neighbourhoods that Lebanese officials said killed eight people and wounded dozens of others.
Scenes of displacement unfolded across the city as residents loaded vehicles with mattresses, luggage and household belongings before joining long lines of traffic along the coastal highway.
Witnesses described severe congestion as families attempted to leave the area.
“After the warnings in Tyre, we left,” resident Ali Bahr said while travelling with his wife and three children.
“We packed our things and left.”
Asked where his family would go, Bahr said uncertainty remained.
“Where would we go? There’s nowhere to go. We’d end up on the street. We’re heading to Sidon.”
Tyre, a historic Mediterranean city in southern Lebanon with significant Muslim and Christian communities, has become the latest focus of concern amid escalating hostilities along the Lebanese-Israeli front and growing fears of a wider humanitarian crisis.
(2/2) Jewish land thieves attack Christian village as Jews escalate violence in West Bank mega concentration camp

Arson attack on Taybeh comes amid a sharp rise in settler violence, with a new UN report accusing Israeli authorities of enabling and protecting attacks on Palestinians
Reposted from Middle East Eye, June 10, 2026
Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian Christian village on Tuesday as their violence across the occupied West Bank continues to escalate.
Settlers targeted areas near the village of Taybeh, east of Ramallah, overnight, setting fire to agricultural fields.
No injuries were reported in the attack.
Taybeh has been the target of repeated settler attacks in recent months following the establishment of a new settlement nearby.
Last year, settlers set the village’s historic Church of Saint George alight, along with its adjoining graveyard.
That attack prompted rare condemnation from the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, an outspoken supporter of Israeli settlements.
Despite that criticism, attacks on the village have continued.

Taybeh is an ancient village believed to date back to the Canaanite period more than 3,000 years ago.
It has a predominantly Christian population of 1,340, according to the 2017 census conducted by the Palestine Central Bureau of Statistics.
The area is known for its abundant pastoral land, and many residents make their living by raising sheep.
But that abundance has drawn the attention of settlers, who have steadily encroached on the village’s territory with the backing of the Israeli military.
Settler violence
Violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians has long been a feature of the occupied West Bank, but it has intensified sharply since the war on Gaza began in 2023.
Settlers now carry out near-daily attacks on Palestinian villages and communities, including vandalism, arson, forced displacement and physical assaults, sometimes involving firearms.
On Tuesday, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory released a report documenting an unprecedented and sustained escalation in settler violence against Palestinians.
The commission said the Israeli government directly supports these attacks through financial backing, logistical assistance and military protection.
“Violence by settlers is the direct outcome of Israeli policies that support, enable and protect their actions,” said Srinivasan Muralidhar, chair of the commission.
The report found that Israeli settlers killed seven Palestinians and wounded 832 others in 2025, representing a 130 percent increase from the previous year.
The trend has continued in 2026, with attacks taking place on a near-daily basis.
According to the Palestinian Authority’s Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, at least 50 Palestinians have been killed by settlers since October 2023, including 15 this year alone.
The UN report concluded that Israeli authorities are “directly involved” in settler attacks that have killed and displaced Palestinians.
The government enables such attacks through financial and military support, while Israeli judicial and law enforcement authorities grant settlers impunity, the UN said.
“The relentless, daily assaults by Israeli settlers against Palestinians are intolerable – and must end. Israel must stop supporting this violence and ensure that its security forces safeguard the Palestinian civilian population,” said Muralidhar.
“The international community must exert concerted pressure on Israel to fulfil its obligations under international law and to take immediate, decisive action to dismantle settlements and outposts, and end settler violence once and for all.”
