They don’t have arms, so when a political scandal erupts they don’t pull back the curtain and reveal what’s really going on behind the scenes. That mutilation was obvious during the scandal about the high-flying politician Priti Patel, the obnoxious Hindu Indian who now oversees Britain’s laws and policing. In 2017, it was revealed that she had had a long series of secret meetings with Israeli politicians and officials under the supervision of the Jew Stuart Polak, a senior figure in the lobbying group Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI).

But the mutilated media didn’t pull back the curtain during that scandal. They ignored Polak and CFI. They never asked why an unelected Jew has so much influence over a supposedly patriotic minister or whether CFI is good for British democracy. It isn’t, of course, but that’s precisely why so few people know about “the biggest lobbying group” in British politics, as the Jewish Chronicle has proudly called it. And now the same mutilated media are failing to pull back the curtain during another scandal about a high-flying Hindu Indian politician.

And just by the way, I’m not sure why these labels are deployed so disapprovingly – especially by progressive Pakistani pundits who inhabit that same social class.

Almost half of Pakistanis are ‘urban’ by this point, which would obviously make them an important support base. And it’s quite bizarre why the term ‘educated’ is used either pejoratively or to associate it exclusively with the ‘middle class.’ A majority of Pakistanis from the lower classes are educated (but don’t necessarily have the ‘cultural capital’ or patronage networks of those above them to get good jobs), and a significant chunk of our upper classes have never felt the need for formal education.

We’ve also been given the impression that only dominant class and ethnic groups are the ones coming out in support of Khan. The Pashtuns, who Pakistani progressives have correctly considered to have been brutalized and marginalized by the ‘War on Terror,’ seem to be blinded by some ‘false consciousness’ (ostensibly, just like all of the non-‘urban middle class’ demonstrators) since they have come out on the streets in the hundreds of thousands on Wednesday evening.

Sheikh Omar al-Kiswani, the director of the Al-Aqsa Mosque—one of Islam's holiest sites—told Middle East Eye that "what happened today is an attack on all peaceful worshipers." He added: "This was a barbaric premeditated attack on worshipers."

The Jews fired tear gas, stun grenades, and bullets as a small group of Palestinians hurled rocks, reportedly injuring three Jews.

"The Palestinian Red Crescent emergency service said it treated 152 people, many of them wounded by bullets or stun grenades, or beaten with batons," the Associated Press reported. "The [Islamic endowment that administers the mosque] said one of the guards at the site was shot in the eye."

After firing tear gas and projectiles on the perimeter, The Jews eventually entered the mosque and arrested hundreds of Palestinians for not being Jewish.
