UK 2013: Police, Government and Party all singing from the same hymn sheet

By John Ward: Earlier yesterday I posted about the inability of Chief Constables to grasp the fear decent citizens of all ages have about the growing incidence of feral behaviour among Underclass offspring. Their lack of willingness to get their knees brown on this issue is providing the obvious excuse for Camerlot to produce legislation that gives any present or future government the right to keep us all in metaphorical chains.
The UK Government is about to pass legislation which will make any behaviour perceived to potentially ‘cause nuisance or annoyance’ a criminal offence. The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Bill also grants local authorities, police and even private security firms sweeping powers to bar citizens from assembling lawfully in public spaces. The Bill has successfully passed through the House of Commons without issue, and is now in the latter stages of review by the House of Lords, after which it will receive Royal Assent and become Law.  Those who refuse orders under the new rules will face arrest, fines and even prison time.

The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Bill advertises itself as a less Big Brother version of New Labour’s bourgeois ASBO bollocks. In fact, what it creates is a range of ambiguity tailor-made for a Home Secretary with neo-dictatorial Blue Rinse tendencies.
The ‘IPNAS’ which will replace the ASBO can be applied for by Local Authorities, police, some transport bodies and some NHS authorities. Don’t mess with the Ipnas: breaching an IPNA would make it tough to secure possession of a home, result in the entire family being evicted from that home, or jail time for anyone over 14.
Even the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), in giving evidence relating to the Bill’s adoption, argued that this would lead to further criminalisation of children and called on the government to think again. But because ACPO doesn’t really give a fuck, they failed to mention that any future controlling Government dickhead can have someone they don’t like arrested on utterly spurious grounds. You thought the EU’s proposed new “anti-racist” bulldozer was bad? This little bozo is a reincarnation of the French ancien régime’s lettres de cachet of the kind that banged up the Count of Monte Christo in the Chateau D’if….and helped bring on the French Revolution.
Very big hat-tip to all those brave and more sharp-eyed bloggers who saw this before I did.
The creeping politicisation of the police – that is to say, using the police for political rather than social prosecutions – gets worse almost literally by the day. But there is equally compelling empirical evidence elsewhere that the creation of George Orwell’s 1984 State is upon us. Not only do we have a near-perfect parallel to Orwell’s acute observations about political language that renders down up and lies truth (see header illustration) we see today an appalling incarnation of Winston Smith’s job in the Ministry of Truth – that is, erasing any history that contradicts what The Party is saying in the present.
So anyway, talking of Parties, the Conservative Party has deleted speeches and press releases published on its website between 2000 and the 2010 general election. The archive has also been hidden from search engines. The  move was spotted by Computer Weekly, which also said some records had been removed from the Internet Archive, which aims to make a permanent record of web content. In addition, a text file was added to the website, called “robots.txt”. This is a standard way of telling search engines which parts of a website they should not try to index.
Spouting complete Orwellian bollocks, the Conservatives said the move keeps their revamped website up-to-date. ‘We are making sure our website keeps the Conservative Party at the forefront of political campaigning,” said a Mr Pants Graphs, “These changes allow people to quickly and easily access the most important information we provide – how we are clearing up Labour’s economic mess, taking the difficult decisions and standing up for hardworking people.”
Eeeeeuuuurrroughweeee. I feel better now.
Except I don’t really. What I see here is the Ruling Party, the Bureaucrats and the Gestapo all in perfect harmony. The nice, smiley Georgian gentleman below would, I know, approve.
