Gunmen Attack Orthodox Church In Jordan During Service, Killing 7 & Wounding Dozens

By Tyler Durden: Multiple gunmen brutally attacked a church in Jordan on Friday in the middle of a funeral, killing at least seven people and wounding 34 others - in what is one of the worst terror attacks on Christians in the country's modern history.

The Jordanian government quickly condemned the act as terrorism, and authorities are reportedly seeking the attackers amid an investigation.

It happened in Jordan’s Karak region, south of the capital of Amman, at St. George Orthodox Church - in a region which has been home to a sizeable ancient Christian community for some 2,000 years.

According to a Reuters description of the terror assault:

Interior Minister Mazin Al Farrayeh said the attack had been carried out by "extremists", but that ⁠it was too early to tell whether they had any links to known groups either inside or outside Jordan. There was ​no immediate claim of responsibility.
