2014 International Men’s Day: Working Together For Men And Boys

In 2014, Global and Regional Coordinators for 2014 International Men’s Day are inviting people all over the world to use International Men’s Day—Wednesday, 19 November 2014—as an opportunity to work together to improve the lives of men and boys all over the globe.
This year’s International Men’s Day theme —“Working Together For Men and Boys”—is designed to encourage greater cooperation in addressing issues that affect Men and Boys all over the world, such as men’s shorter life expectancy, the high male suicide rate, our collective tolerance of violence against men, and the struggles that boys can face in getting an education and the unique challenges of father-child relationships.
On International Men’s Day—Wednesday, 19 November 2014—we are inviting people all over the world to host events and initiatives that involve:

• Like-minded people finding ways to work together for Men and Boys
• People from diverse perspectives finding ways to work together for Men and Boys
• People in different countries finding ways to work together for Men and Boys
• And most importantly, Men and Women finding ways to work together for Men and Boys

We look forward to people all over the world finding ways to work together that reflect the Six Pillars of International Men’s Day, which means:
ONE:             Working together to promote positive male role models
TWO:            Working together to celebrate Men’s positive contributions
THREE:        Working together to focus on Men’s health and well-being
FOUR:          Working together to highlight discrimination against males
FIVE:            Working together to improve gender relations and improve gender equality
SIX:               Working together to create a safer, better world.

But seeing how much effort those channels are putting into demonizing an ancient civilization like Iran is sometimes just disgusting.

"Be happy that you live in the United States because if you were in Iran, you would be arrested for being happy." That's the opening statement of a Fox News presenter shortly before reading the news just a day after Iranian police arrested members of a music band for dancing to Pharrell William's song 'Happy' and posting the video on the internet.
Although I never endorsed the police action and the subsequent handling of the issue in Iran, I could not understand the media frenzy in the West that followed the story at a time when the incarceration of hundreds of thousands of people in the US, the execution of an abnormally large number of Americans who are found to be innocent only after their deaths and the US failure to shut down the Guantanamo Bay prison that's been keeping people in detention for years without charge all escape the mainstream media's 'watchful eyes'.
One can easily understand why the American neo-cons' fascist TV channel Fox News—which is under heavy influence by the Zionist lobby that has held America hostage for over six decades now—would want to demonize Iran.

This was all largely lost on the local, as outside the summit, Ukrainian Australians staged an anti-Putin protest, wearing headbands reading "Putin, Killer".

International Men’s Day: Compliments Of The Men’s Rights Movement

By Jason Thompson: I’d like to make a few observations about International Men’s Day (IMD) that I hope will place the event in its proper context as a men’s rights initiative. During the process of elaborating these points, I intend to throw a few people under the bus—bless their poor souls.
As one of just five members of the original IMD Coordination Committee, along with my role as Global IMD Promotions Coordinator, IMD historian, and author of the only book on the history and purpose of International Men’s Day, I feel well positioned to make a few observations about the occasion.
International Men’s Day was first celebrated by men’s rights advocate Thomas Oaster in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, in 1992. He is the founder.
After a quiet period in which IMD was celebrated by only a few small international groups, Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh from Trinidad and Tobago revived the event in 1999, and the world has increasingly begun to celebrate it since then.
With the growing success of the day, it was inevitable that ideologues of every stripe would turn up and exploit the occasion to promote whatever snake oil they happened to be selling. Despite the fact that IMD is a men’s rights event, the following are a few of the predictable usurpers who attempt to exploit the occasion.
