We Provoked Russia's War In Ukraine!

When Russia’s Vladimir Putin demanded that the U.S. rule out Ukraine as a future member of the NATO alliance, the U.S. archly replied: NATO has an open-door policy. Any nation, including Ukraine, may apply for membership and be admitted. We’re not changing that.

Authored by Pat Buchanan: In the Bucharest declaration of 2008, NATO had put Ukraine and Georgia, ever farther east in the Caucasus, on a path to membership in NATO and coverage under Article 5 of the treaty, which declares that an attack on any one member is an attack on all.

Unable to get a satisfactory answer to his demand, Putin invaded and settled the issue. Neither Ukraine nor Georgia will become members of NATO. To prevent that, Russia will go to war, as Russia did last night.

Putin did exactly what he had warned us he would do.

Whatever the character of the Russian president, now being hotly debated here in the USA, he has established his credibility.

When Putin warns that he will do something, he does it.

Twelve Thoughts On Ukraine

'We survived the last cold war by sheer, dumb luck. We were never once in control. We just got lucky. There’s no reason to trust that we’ll get lucky again. We need to abandon this madness and pursue detente immediately.'

By Caitlin Johnstone: Putin has launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the goal of which he claims is not to occupy the country but to “demilitarize” and “de-Nazify” it. We’ve no reason to put blind faith in any of those claims. Only time will tell.

As of this writing dozens have reportedly been killed so far. All war is horrific. We can only hope that this one winds up being the least horrific a war can be.

Some thoughts:

1. This whole thing could very easily have been avoided with a little bit of diplomacy. The only reason that didn’t happen was it would have meant the US empire taking a teensy, weensy step back from its agenda of total planetary domination.

I’ve seen people call it “sad” or “unfortunate” that western powers didn’t make basic low-cost, high-yield concessions like guaranteeing no NATO membership for Ukraine and having Kyiv honor the Minsk agreement, but it’s not sad, and it’s not unfortunate. It’s enraging. That they did this deserves nothing but pure, unadulterated, white hot rage.

2. Narrative managers have been working furiously to quash all discussion of #1, however. Like our good friend Michael McFaul here:

Zelensky Admits "We Are Left Alone" As NATO "Afraid"

"We are left alone in defense of our state. Who is ready to fight with us? I don’t see it. Who is ready to guarantee Ukraine’s accession to Nato? Everyone is afraid."

Update(6:42pmET): Shortly before 1am Kiev time Ukraine's President Zelensky announced: "The enemy’s sabotage forces have entered the capital. Me and my family are remaining."

"We need to talk about a ceasefire with Russia," he added in the video message. Then what followed suggests the brutal reality is finally sinking in that despite years of 'promises' from Washington and the West of a "path to NATO membership" - none of his backers or Ukraine's allies are coming to help:

"We are not afraid to talk to Russia. We are not afraid to talk about security guarantees for our state. We are not afraid to talk about neutral status. But what security guarantees will we have? But which countries will give them?" Zelensky says in response to a prior Russian offer to begin to negotiation "terms of surrender".

Why Ukraine Is The West's Fault! Featuring John Mearsheimer

The University of Chicago: UnCommon Core: The Causes and Consequences of the Ukraine Crisis John J. Mearsheimer, the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor in Political Science and Co-director of the Program on International Security Policy at the University of Chicago, assesses the causes of the present Ukraine crisis, the best way to end it, and its consequences for all of the main actors. A key assumption is that in order to come up with the optimum plan for ending the crisis, it is essential to know what caused the crisis. Regarding the all-important question of causes, the key issue is whether Russia or the West bears primary responsibility.

“They Didn’t Hear What We Told Them. They Had Better Hear This Time.” — Vladimir Putin

“I would now like to say something very important for those who may be tempted to interfere in these developments from the outside. No matter who tries to stand in our way or all the more so create threats for our country and our people, they must know that Russia will respond immediately, and the consequences will be such as you have never seen in your entire history. No matter how the events unfold, we are ready. All the necessary decisions in this regard have been taken. I hope that my words will be heard.”

By Dr. Paul Craig Roberts: Think back to 2014 when the US overthrew the Ukrainian government and installed a neo-Nazi regime. The neocons were smirking, laughing at how easy it was to buffalo the Russians. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland publicly bragged about how the US had spent $5 billion dollars preparing the overthrow of Ukraine. Much cheering of how Ukraine would now be used to destabilize Russia and seize the Russian Black Sea naval base.

After a long frustrating, humiliating 8 years of trying to get the West’s attention that this was not a scheme Russia could accept, and after one last effort which got nowhere, Russia has acted.

Here Is the Full Text of Putin’s Speech This Morning

Read it so that you understand the situation. You will not get a word of truth from the mouths of Western politicians and presstitutes.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin -  Feb 24, 2022: Citizens of Russia, friends,

I consider it necessary today to speak again about the tragic events in Donbass and the key aspects of ensuring the security of Russia.

I will begin with what I said in my address on February 21, 2022. I spoke about our biggest concerns and worries, and about the fundamental threats which irresponsible Western politicians created for Russia consistently, rudely and unceremoniously from year to year. I am referring to the eastward expansion of NATO, which is moving its military infrastructure ever closer to the Russian border.

It is a fact that over the past 30 years we have been patiently trying to come to an agreement with the leading NATO countries regarding the principles of equal and indivisible security in Europe. In response to our proposals, we invariably faced either cynical deception and lies or attempts at pressure and blackmail, while the North Atlantic alliance continued to expand despite our protests and concerns. Its military machine is moving and, as I said, is approaching our very border.

The War On Cash Entering Bold New Phase

With so much news about Ukraine, inflation, massive government spending and exploding deficits, it’s easy to overlook the ongoing war on cash. That’s a mistake because it has serious implications not only for your money, but for your privacy and personal freedom, as you’ll see today.

Authored by James Rickards: The war on cash is a global effort being waged on many fronts. My view is that the war on cash is dangerous in terms of lost privacy and the risk of government confiscation of wealth.

Governments always use money laundering, drug dealing and terrorism as excuses to keep tabs on honest citizens and deprive them of the ability to use money alternatives such as physical cash, gold and, these days, cryptocurrencies.

The real burden of the war on cash falls on honest citizens who are made vulnerable to wealth confiscation through negative interest rates, loss of privacy, account freezes and limits on cash withdrawals or transfers.

Breaking News : Russia Demilitarizes Ukraine

Can the West Come to its Senses or Does the West Have any Sense to Come to?

By Dr. Paul Craig Roberts: Three days ago I wrote “Today the World Has Changed.”  The Kremlin recognized the Russian territories that Lenin had folded into the Ukraine as independent states and gave the Ukrainian Nazis an ultimatum to cease its attacks on the Donbass Russians. The Russian Armed Forces were issued orders to ensure provision of peace on the territory of the independent republics.

Unfortunately, the dumbshit Ukrainians didn’t hear and neither did the dumbshits in Washington.  Instead of avoiding conflict, the dumbasses provoked one, and it arrived this morning.  What a collection of fools the Western World is.

The Ukrainian attacks on Donbass did not stop.  According to some reports they intensified.  If the Ukrainian Nazis thought that Russia was going to ask for more negotiations, they learned differently as this morning news reveals.

In a televised address President Putin announced this morning a military operation to “demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.”

As it is impossible to learn anything factual from the fake news Western media, I will do my best to tell you what is happening.

The people have put in power politicians who do not even believe in the usual faux democracy

By David Sacks: Last summer, I warned readers of Common Sense that financial deplatforming would be the next wave of online censorship. Big Tech companies like PayPal were already working with groups like the ADL and SPLC to define lists of individuals and groups who should be denied service. As more and more similarly minded tech companies followed suit (as happened with social media censorship), these deplorables would be deplatformed, debanked, and eventually denied access to the modern economy altogether, as punishment for their unacceptable views.

That prediction has become reality.
