For those with a telescope or binoculars, Uranus can be spotted near Jupiter, while Neptune sits close to Venus and Saturn, completing this celestial spectacle.

What kick-started the focus was a headline grabbing new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2024 that examined the presence of microplastics and nanoplastics in human arterial plaque. Researchers analysed plaque samples from 304 patients and they detected microplastics, predominantly polyethylene, in the arterial plaque of these patients. Notably, individuals with microplastics in their arterial plaque were found to have a 4.5 times higher risk of experiencing a heart attack, stroke, or death within the subsequent three years compared to those without such microplastic presence. Very scary data indeed. Since then, various health influencers have competed in extrapolating this study and recommended implementing more and more extreme lifestyle measures to avoid plastic.

We don’t know if the Chinese are using TikTok for surveillance.  It is an accusation, the purpose of which seems to be to force China to fork over to US investors an interest in half of their company. The Speaker of the House is our bad cop saying he is going to shut down the company.  Trump is the good cop issuing an executive order to keep it open while he performs the art of the deal.

Kinnucan: In 1986, Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan was awarded the “Seal Medallion of the Central Intelligence Agency ‘In recognition of his outstanding accomplishments as… a leader in establishing the oversight of intelligence…’” By 1995, on the first day of the first session of the 104th United States Congress, Sen. Moynihan informed his colleagues and the nation that “Secrecy is a disease. It causes hardening of the arteries of the mind.”

The occasion for Moynihan’s remarks was the introduction of Senate Bill 126, short titled the “Abolition of the Central Intelligence Agency Act of 1995.” No one would co-sponsor Moynihan’s bill and it died an apparently quiet death in the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence without any companion bill in the House of Representatives.

Since 1995, the disease of secrecy has, arguably, only worsened in the federal government. Personally, I can attest that Secretitis (as I shall call it, for lack of a better term) does, indeed, affect the collective mind of the federal government. In my case, it manifested as a type of paranoia.
