By Tyler Durden: Hungary continued this past week being a lone EU voice blocking the European Union's collective efforts to ramp up more financial and military aid to Ukraine, at a moment Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has a powerful backer in Washington - the Trump administration.

Hungary in a Thursday European Council summit vote refused to endorse a statement reaffirming the bloc’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Orbán government slammed the 'pro-war' stance of the EU, despite 26 out of 27 EU nations signing off on it.

While the statement had only largely symbolic significance, saying Europe backs the "continued and unwavering support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity" - Orban described that this only prolongs the war and brings the conflict no closer to peaceful resolution.

"Once again, they wanted to adopt a common position in which we want to give Ukraine even more money and even more weapons, and we are committed to the war," the Hungarian leader explained after the veto.

“We were surprised to find that the actual population living in rural areas is much higher than the global population data indicates—depending on the dataset, rural populations have been underestimated by between 53 percent to 84 percent over the period studied," he said in a press statement.

By Tyler Durden: Immense controversy and backlash has been unleashed in Ukraine after the country's defense ministry decided to make a fresh recruitment video on TikTok, bizarrely using the 'lure' of McDonald's. The clip appeared this week on the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense's official channel.

Desperately seeking to gain more young recruits into the army's depleting ranks, also at a moment that disturbing videos showing conscription officers yanking Ukrainian men off the streets and shoving them into vans are going viral, the new video clip informs Ukrainians how many cheeseburgers they can afford at McDonald's by joining the fight against Russia.

A man in civilian clothes walks out of a local McDonald's and poses, "How many cheeseburgers can be bought for 1 million hryvnas ($24,000)?" The man then says that 15,625 burgers can be bought for that amount, and that any person between the ages of 18-24 who signs up for military service can get it. Currently the military is offering "special contracts" for new volunteers, promising the equivalent of $24,000 for a year’s service, with $5,400 paid up front.
