"Where are the Greeks? No Greeks, Hollywood is full of shit with its diversity. Talk about cultural appropriation..."
Nerdrotic
Angelos Agathangelou: George Raft to John Stamos, Zach Galifianakis to Jenifer Aniston to her uncle Telly Savalas to Aliki Vougiouklaki to Maria Callas, there have always been plenty of Greek actors available to ad authenticity if there existed the will to do so.
Nia Vardalos' Big Fat Greek Wedding is no anomaly, The Iliad, The Odyssey, The Theban plays, Epics to comedies, our arse kicking culture needs no introduction, but perhaps a wake up call is required that it is our culture and by the way we do still very much exist and even more than this it has been shown that we are remarkably far more similar genetically to our Greek ancestors, when compared to the people of other cultures v their ancestors.
If you wouldn't culturally appropriate the role of a native American Indian, why appropriate our Hellenic culture whilst simultaneously completely excluding us?
Guess Tula's father was right, "There are two kinds of people: Greeks, and everyone else who wish they were Greek" That will be the suckers appropriating our culture whilst totally excluding us.
I'll not be watching this movie, in protest... Just as I won't be watching any black washing depiction of Cleopatra by the likes of GI Jane 2 and you can tell Will Simp I said so.
We Greeks are happy to have imbued the West with our culture, but given the current cultural climate, how about a little respect? We shouldn't have to ask.

River dance? Break dancing? We Greeks were doing that between battles before the fall of Troy... You're welcome. ;)
