talkRADIO: Nigel Farage has accused the mainstream media of failing to report on migrants crossing the English Channel to illegally enter the UK. Speaking to talkRADIO’s Mike Graham, the Brexit Party leader said: “I’ve been on this campaign full time for the last three weeks, because I want people to know and understand the truth. “National BBC and national ITV simply refuse to cover this story. It’s astonishing. It’s not as if it’s not in the public interest.” It comes as the Press Association reported that number of migrants intercepted and brought to Dover during the lockdown reached more than 1,000. Mr Farage said five boats were escorted to the UK by authorities this morning. “Today is another very busy day, already five migrant boats have been discovered in the Channel and brought in by our border force, or should I say the illegal migrant taxi service. “Virtually everybody that comes is allowed to stay. It’s as if on the white cliffs of Dover there’s a big sign saying ‘illegals welcome’,” he told Mike. The Home Office has previously said that an increase in small boat crossings is due partly to lockdown road restrictions at the border but has insisted that the Covid-19 crisis has had no impact on its ability to deal with the crossings.
