Labour Councillors Are Jumping Ship — Straight Into Corbyn’s Party!

KernowDamo: It says a lot when Labour Councillors are not only quitting the party, but going to ne that still doesn't have a name!

Right, so Keir Starmer may have won power, but he’s made a dogs dinner of running the country ever since and he’s fast losing control and nothing quite demonstrates that better than elected Labour officials quitting in disgust or despair and walking, and in many instances, taking their support elsewhere. It’s bad enough when Councillors walk full stop, it’s even worse when they join another party, but to join a party that still doesn’t have a name and is led by the guy you thought you’d destroyed? Well that’s all new territory in Starmer’s long list of failure. It’s the kind of loyalty Labour under Starmer can only dream of reclaiming, bit Corbyn has always inspired that and so he is again, a delicious dose of karma for Keith playing out before our eyes.

Labour’s base isn’t just disillusioned — it’s organising. And it’s coalescing around the very figure Starmer tried to banish from political relevance, as well as to other progressive parties too, such as the Greens, currently going through elections to choose new leadership, a real opportunity to get behind Zack Polanski’s campaign and put the Greens on course to not just surge themselves, but also complement the Corbyn Party as well. This isn’t a protest vote. It’s a moral revolt and I am all here for it. And perhaps, the birth of a party - even a progressive alliance going forwards – is ready to pick up what Labour has dropped: its principles, its purpose and already picking up its people.

Right, so it was a month ago today that Zarah Sultana, MP for Coventry South announced her resignation from the party. Joining forces with Jeremy Corbyn, sitting as an independent of course following his expulsion under Starmer’s leadership for daring to still stand for his own seat and of course winning it again as he has every election since 1983.
