Ewan Jones & Belinda Brown Discuss “Traditionalism & Ideology”

Ewan Jones: Our conversation on traditionalism centres around how the introduction of safe effective birth control and abortion changed the dynamics between the two genders, and helped the nihilistic movement of radical feminism gain traction. We then discuss the topic of ideology. I lay out my theory that some of the major ideologies people follow have next to no value, whereas others are vital for human prosperity and survival. However, all of the beneficial ideologies have a shadow side. A negative direction the ideology can take that throws it from grace and into chaos. In stark contrast Belinda argues against embracing an ideological approach in sociology, and asserts a focus on statistical analysis is important to move this subject forward.
