If Americans Knew: Journalist and author Alison Weir, founder of If American Knew, interviews Nader Talebzadeh on March 8, 2019. Talebzadeh is a an Iranian documentary maker, prominent television host, public intellectual, and the chairman of the New Horizon Conference. The New Horizon event discussed in the video included a wide array of participants and viewpoints, and at times generated heated debates. In February 2019 the U.S. Treasury Department, under Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, placed sanctions on New Horizon, Nader, his wife Zeinab Mehanna Talebzadeh (occasionally seen in the background of the video), and two Iranian officials.

The official in charge of the office, Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Sigal Mandelker, is known to be at the center of US policies on Iran. The Atlantic reports that Mandelker's "hand is on the lever" of crippling economic sanctions meant to force Iran’s "capitulation or demise." Mandelker was born in Israel; the Treasury Department refuses to divulge whether Mandelker is still an Israeli citizen.
