Portugal Covid Cases Spiked After Pfizer Vaccinations - Dad Demands Answers, Daughter Died Two Days After Vaccine

As with many other countries Covid cases spiked in Portugal after the Pfizer coronavirus mass vaccinations
By Sian Elvin: A heartbroken dad has called for answers after a Portuguese health worker died two days after receiving the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine. Sonia Acevedo, 41, received the injection on December 30 and was found to have suffered a ‘sudden death’ at home on New Year’s Day. But no cause of death has yet been determined and the authorities said they will follow the usual procedures to work out what happened. An autopsy is expected to take place imminently and there is currently no evidence to suggest her death is linked to the vaccine. Her dad Abilio Acevedo told daily newspaper Correio da Manha: ‘She was okay. She hadn’t had any health problems. ‘She had the Covid-19 vaccine but she didn’t have any symptoms. I don’t know what happened. I just want answers. ‘I want to know what led to my daughter’s death.’

Despite being found dead 48 hours after having the vaccine, the mum-of-two is not said to have suffered any unusual or extreme side-effects following the jab. Mr Acevedo said he got the call to say she had been found dead around 11am on Friday morning, just hours after they ate together on New Year’s Eve. ‘My daughter left home and I never saw her alive again,’ he said. Ms Acevedo worked in paediatrics at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology in Porto. Her employers confirmed she had been vaccinated against Covid-19 on December 30, and added they had not been notified of any ‘undesirable effect’ when she was given the injection or in the hours afterwards. In a statement, the Portuguese Institute of Oncology said: ‘With regards to the sudden death of an operational assistant from the Porto IPO on January 1, 2021, the Board of Directors confirms the event and expresses sincere regret to family and friends in the certainty that this loss is also felt here.’ ‘The explanation of the cause of death will follow the usual procedures in these circumstances.’ Ms Acevedo had worked at IPO Porto, a national and international reference health institution in cancer treatment, research and education, for more than 10 years. She lived with her family in Maia near Porto, but died at her partner’s home in Trofa half an hour’s drive north of the city. Her daughter, Vania Figueredo, said her mum had only complained about the ‘normal’ discomfort from an injection in her arm, but was otherwise fine. Ms Acevedo changed her profile photo on Facebook shortly after her injection to a selfie with a face mask on and the caption: ‘Covid-19 vaccinated.’ The health worker was one of 538 workers at IPO Porto who received the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. Portugal’s Ministry of Health has been informed of the Ms Acevedo’s death. No serious safety concerns related to the vaccine have been reported to date. The jab has been found to be 95% effective and was tested on tens of thousands of people before approval. Portugal, with a population of just over 10 million people, has reported 7,118 deaths and more than 427,000 instances of Covid-19. As with many other countries, Covid cases have started to spike since Christmas after the mass Covid vaccinations.
