Over the last few months, I have seen academic articles and op-eds by professors retracted or labeled “fake news” by social media platforms. Often, no explanation is provided. I am concerned about this heavy handedness and, at times, outright censorship – Vinay Prasad, MD, MPH
By Arjun Walia: One common theme throughout this pandemic that many “T.V.” and mainstream media watchers may be completely unaware of is the fact that a large number of scientists, doctors and journalists have been censored in numerous ways for sharing information, science, data, and opinions about COVID that calls into question, or in some cases completely contradicts the information we are receiving from government health agencies, and ‘political scientists’ like Dr. Anthony Fauci, for example. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s odd that political scientists like Fauci are able to appear on media networks and receive instant virality/credibility yet so many other renowned scientists and infectious disease experts never see the light of day.
To be honest, it’s great to see scientists and many others experience this type of censorship and muzzling, so to speak, because it’s waking people up and making them curious as to what and why information is being censored. It’s something that we here at Collective Evolution have been experiencing for a number of years. This is primarily why we created a Telegram account. You should join us there if you haven’t already as we have no idea how much longer we’ll be on Facebook. This type of censorship that more of the “mainstream” crowd has been experiencing is an excellent catalyst for them to really start questioning the world we live in and just how much, sometimes, our consciousness and perception of major events is and can be manipulated . COVID is not the only example, it seems to be a common theme throughout modern history.
For example, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya (one of The Great Barrington Declaration initiators) , professor at Stanford University Medical School, a physician and epidemiologist gave an interview a few months ago expressing just that. Stating in an interview with Just The News, “when people say follow the science, what I’ve seen is they often mean censor scientists who don’t agree with some scientists…the people who are sort of controlling policy.” He’s one of four from Stanford’s medical school who published a paper showing that lockdowns, stay at home orders and business closures are not an effective tool for stopping the spread of COVID, not only that they are causing a lot of harm in many different areas. There are dozens of studies showing the same thing.
Another example comes from Dr. Kamran Abbasi, recent executive editor of the prestigious British Medical Journal, editor of the Bulletin of the World Health Organization, and a consultant editor for PLOS Medicine. He is editor of the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine and JRSM Open. He published an article stating,
Science is being suppressed for political and financial gain. Covid-19 has unleashed state corruption on a grand scale, and it is harmful to public health. Politicians and industry are responsible for this opportunistic embezzlement. So too are scientists and health experts. The pandemic has revealed how the medical-political complex can be manipulated in an emergency—a time when it is even more important to safeguard science.
As far as examples go, the science and data that show lockdowns are not only ineffective, but harmful in several ways has been censored in various forms. This comes from social media algorithms killing any type of virality of an article creating awareness of it, or the simple acknowledgment of this information within mainstream media. When information that goes against the grain does achieve some type of traction, it is usually then ridiculed and labelled a “conspiracy theory.”
People in various professions are fearful of speaking out about this kind of thing. For example, In Ontario, Canada, a member of Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s caucus was fired for speaking out against his own government’s policies and calling for an end to the province-wide pandemic lockdown.“The lockdown isn’t working,” writes York Centre Progressive Conservative MPP Roman Baber in a letter to Ford. “It’s causing an avalanche of suicides, overdoses, bankruptcies, divorces and takes an immense toll on our children. Dozens of leading doctors implored you to end the lockdowns.” (source)
Again, there are many examples of suppression when it comes to COVID, be it alternative therapies or treatment, “anti-lockdown” data and more.
It’s Not About Being Right Or Wrong: At the end of the day, it’s not about being right or wrong. The point is, science should never really be suppressed. Science is about critical questioning, thinking, and open/transparent debate and discussions. All data, all science, and all information should be “pushed” out there in an equal manner, not just the science that benefits political, financial and corporate agendas. What we’ve seen with COVID and the suppression of science is truly unprecedented, and it also pushes more people to wake up to the fact that in many ways our perception of major global events is and can be extremely manipulated.
The Takeaway: In a day in age where people are so polarized in their beliefs, it’s truly more important to believe what you believe, express yourself, and research from a place of peace. One of the biggest challenges emerging right now is people are trying to discern and make sense of current events while being in a state of worry, panic, anger, judgement etc. It’s literally not possible to see clearly in those states. We need to be able to empathize with a person who disagrees with us. More important than being right is our ability to get along with each other and be peaceful. I’ve found that those who are polarized in their beliefs, on both sides of whatever issue, have one thing in common, we all want what’s best for each other and many of us have good hearts. But when we are so polarized we truly fail to do something important, and that’s see from the perspective of another.
Real change will come from a change in consciousness. When human beings operate from the “correct” place within, we will bring about a new world and again, I believe we are currently in that process. We are currently going through this, and one small part of this process is people waking up to aspects to our reality that were once unclear. We are living in an exciting time! At the end of the day, I believe people should have freedom. When our rights and freedoms are threatened, especially when it’s for the “good of the whole”, it’s a problem, and many people are seeing that. Many people would not have a problem with these measures if there was substantial evidence that it actually is “good for whole.” It turns out it may be “bad for the whole.” Things aren’t black and white here, and when that’s the case freedom is of utmost importance.
