Serum ACE-2: Why Infants Rarely Affected By COVID-19? + Understanding Autoimmunity In COVID-19 - Dr Philip McMillan

Vejon Health: Understanding some of the unusual characteristics of COVID-19 helps us to determine the pathophysiology of the disease. Infants are usually affected in most infections as they are vulnerable because of a poorly developed immune system.

Our research has focused on serum ACE-2, an enzyme that binds to the spike protein of the virus, and is at low levels for infants but increases in the elderly and specific comorbidities.
