Jimmy Dore: When Humble, Texas police officer John Cox detained suspect Chris Hanna on charges of aggravated assault, Cox reported nothing unusual about the arrest, and Humble police chief Ken Theis backed him up, in a statement alleging that “at no time did the Officer strike the suspect.” Fast forward to the release of surveillance footage that clearly shows Cox punching Hanna, knocking him down and then repeatedly shoving his head into the ground. Hanna has now hired an attorney and is alleging police brutality in yet another case that clearly shows police up and down the chain of command will happily lie to protect anyone on their side of the thin blue line.
