"This eminently avoidable war is a tragedy for the Ukrainian people, for the Russian people and for the European people!"
Dimitri Lascaris: Richard Sakwa is a Professor Emeritus of Politics at the University of Kent at Canterbury, England and an Honorary Professor in the Faculty of Political Science at Moscow State University, Russia.
This week, Professor Sakwa spoke with Dimitri Lascaris about the emergence of a new world order.
According to Professor Sakwa, the wars in Ukraine and West Asia are linked: both are being driven by the West's project of global hegemony.
In both wars, however, the political West is losing badly. As a result, a new world order is emerging in which Western power will be constrained by the power of other states.
