WLA: Venezuela has officially confirmed that President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores were captured during the U.S. military operation. Vice President Delcy Rodríguez made the announcement while convening an emergency National Defense Council with all branches of government.
"In this military operation, President Nicolás Maduro and the First Lady, the First Combatant Cilia Flores, were captured," Rodríguez stated. She demanded their "immediate release" and declared: "The only president of Venezuela is President Nicolás Maduro."
Rodríguez said all national power has been activated—the Bolivarian Armed Forces deployed throughout the territory, citizen security agencies mobilized, and militants at their workplaces ready. She called the capture an "illegal and illegitimate kidnapping."
The Vice President said the international community has joined in support, with voices from China, Russia, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia expressing shock. She warned: "What they did to Venezuela today can be done to just anyone."
Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello and Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López also addressed the nation, vowing resistance against what they called "criminal terrorist aggression."
