Fexl: Today, these restored images remain the only direct, ground-level optical photographs ever taken of the Venusian surface. Subsequent orbital radar missions and more recent observations, including near-infrared detections by the Parker Solar Probe that sensed faint thermal emission from the surface through atmospheric windows, have added valuable new perspectives.
