Geologist and climate change critic Tony Heller joins Jimmy Dore to discuss a new study in Science Advances showing that offshore wind turbines warm the sea surface by up to 1°C by slowing wind, which weakens ocean mixing, shuts down upwelling, and traps heat at the surface—with effects appearing within days and spreading dozens of kilometers from the wind farm. He notes that wind turbines are designed to extract energy from the weather system, intentionally altering weather patterns, and that a wind farm near his home in Cheyenne, Wyoming has already reduced local snowfall.
Heller criticizes the enormous cost and difficulty of dismantling wind farms, pointing to a rusted, defunct wind farm on the southern tip of Hawaii as an example of what will become a widespread eyesore, and notes that one California wind farm has killed an estimated 20% of the United States' golden eagle population. He concludes that the environmental movement has been "hijacked by climate scamsters" who have turned climate activism into a money grab, similar to how big pharma turned COVID into a profit-driven operation.
