KernowDamo: Massive Attack’s Rob Del Naja, apparently now a one-man threat to national security, got himself arrested at the Labour Conference for the heinous crime of holding a placard that dared to support Palestine Action. The plan to keep the Defend Our Juries protest out of sight and out of mind has backfired spectacularly, leaving Andy Burnham’s conference looking less like a showcase of grown-up politics and more like police, camera, action.
With terrorism-related arrests piling up faster than Labour’s broken promises, the whole sorry bunch are now raising questions that even the most loyal party hacks can’t dodge. I’m digging into Del Naja’s arrest, the Palestine Action ban, the Liverpool protest, and why everyone from Massive Attack to Macklemore is suddenly on the same protest playlist. Labour wanted this mess swept under the rug. Instead, they’ve tripped over it in front of the cameras.
